Gov. Hogan Vetoes Funding for Community-Based Violence Prevention

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has vetoed SB 708, which provides $3.6 million in grants for community and hospital violence intervention programs. During his State of the State address this February, Gov. Hogan stated that gun violence "is an urgent crisis, and we have an obligation to do something about it right now. There can be no more excuses and no more delays." SB 708 passed the Maryland Senate by a margin of 42-4 and the House 104-28. Brady condemns Gov. Hogan's decision and urges the Legislature to overturn his veto.
